Urgent Transfer Service

The Problem

Urgent patients do not require a 999 emergency ambulance, but they do require a clinician and the clinical environment above that of routine patient transport services.

When a GP or healthcare professional identifies a patient who requires an urgent admission to hospital (or hospice) an 999 emergency ambulance is tasked.

Currently, the patient will need to wait for a 999 emergency ambulance to become available and once tasked the emergency ambulance is prevented from responding to life threatening emergencies.

OUR SOLUTION

Staffed by senior, experienced paramedics and clinicians, the Urgent Transfer Service vehicles are modern, reliable and able to deliver a full clinical service for all patients requiring urgent transfer to hospital.
By solely concentrating on urgent patient transfers, the Cornwall Ambulance Service can guarantee a fully focussed, flexible service to meet the needs of healthcare partners, and the patients of Cornwall.

The unique skills of the clinicians responding to these patients enables them to manage the patient holistically, making timely contact with services to initiate the right care in the right place at the right time.
