Steve Small

CLINICAL DIRECTOR

Steve is a Consultant Paramedic, educator and health leader with over 25 years of experience within the NHS.

Having worked within various frontline emergency ambulance service positions, Steve progressed into advanced clinical roles in emergency medicine as a Fast Response Motorcycle Paramedic, Air Ambulance Paramedic and Search and Rescue Paramedic. During his employment within the ambulance service, he was the Operational Locality Manager for West Cornwall and Isles of Scilly for 10 years, managing and supporting over 230 staff and working with the community and commissioners to improve emergency and urgent care within Cornwall. He also has many years of training experience delivering Pre-Hospital Life Support, Geriatric Emergency Medicine and Advanced Paediatric Trauma Life Support.

Steve has now transitioned his practice into the delivery of primary and urgent care, working in advanced practice roles in minor injury units and most recently in integrated urgent care as an Advanced Paramedic and non-medical prescriber. As the Clinical Director, Steve oversees all clinical aspects of Cornwall Ambulance Service, driving innovative clinical delivery of services and supporting clinical operations throughout the team.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys surfing, paddle boarding, spearfishing, walking the dog and spending time with his beautiful wife Cathy.
